It all began with a love for the culture.
Co-founded in 2023 by a group of artist-educators, Roots Rhymes Collective (RRC) is a collaborative social enterprise committed to amplifying the legacy of Hip Hop and prioritizing the voices of the culture’s architects.
Through public facing programming, we preserve Hip Hop’s rich individual and collective histories, promote the culture’s capacity for knowledge production, generate opportunities for collective memory-making, and foster a communicative network that draws together Hip Hop’s artistic, business, media, educational and curatorial communities while simultaneously bridging the gap between the culture’s many generations.

Our collective's mission is to honor, archive, and amplify Hip Hop’s ascendancy from a trans-local phenomenon to a global expression of culture, social activism, knowledge production, entrepreneurialism, and memory-making by celebrating Hip Hop culture’s pioneering voices, calling attention to its capacity for social change, offering opportunities for mentorship and knowledge mobilization, and engaging in coalition building across various sectors and generations.
Our vision over the long term is to preserve Hip Hop’s legacy and capacity for social change through a multi-generational and multi- sector network of Hip Hop heads.
